Viardot’s Cendrillon

Aleta Shang - Prince Charming

A little known and much less performed gem of late Romanticism, Pauline Viardot's Cendrillon is an operatic treat composed for voice with piano accompaniment. This work is one of the few surviving operatic compositions written by a woman. Concordia Ensemble presents a once in a blue moon opportunity to experience this charming work live in May 2022, with an exceptionally talented cast of young singers and musicians. In a departure from the typical casting of the work, Concordia Ensemble has chosen to use a mostly female cast to explore the relationship between love and class in contemporary society.

If you enjoy classic fairy tales with a twist, then Concordia Ensemble's 2021 production of Pauline Viardot's Cendrillon is the opera for you.
